Welcome to Great Burrow Stables. Formerly home to our chickens, two stables have been redesigned maintaining the same beautiful south facing aspect, surrounded by oak trees. This deluxe cabin has a sharp black galvanised tin exterior with a huge rolling door that reveals a warm larch covered front deck and veranda beyond.
Great Burrow Stables is most suited to a couple or maybe a small family as there is the possibility of a single sofa bed on the mezzanine reached by a ladder. It is not suitable for very young children.
A roll top bath on the veranda means you can enjoy full immersion in the outdoors, whilst inside there is a deluge shower wet room. And for a full evening’s entertainment you have a Swedish Hikki wood-fired hot tub. This takes some preparation but is well worth it!
The interior style is romantic, a boudoir with original, playful retro details. Our aesthetic aims to reflect our ecological aims. The dark wooden walls are clad with timber that once graced the mess of RAF Waddington. Above the king-sized bed, the timber slats are reclaimed from the Aberlour Distillery in Scotland.
From the mezzanine’s single sofa you can take in views of Dartmoor’s northern Tors. Downstairs is a well fitted kitchen and lounge area with a wood burner and smart TV.
The view across the field will keep you busy, watching the horse and the birds, maybe a squirrel… Or if you need to stay in touch, theres 4G Wifi. A vintage Murano glass wall sconce lights up the dining table and behind the screen, in the bedroom, hangs the stunning glass torpedo lamp.
There are great walks from the Stables; up the lane to catch the sunset and down the lane to a valley and a couple of beautiful rivers.
Come the evening you can have a barbeque or enjoy sitting around the fire pit watching the stars.
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and electric vehicle charging is available, pay as you go, next to the Stables. We use eco-friendly products where possible.
