Beautifully converted from the old linhay with oak and slate floors, cosy window seats, an elm spiral staircase, comfy beds with first class linen, Great Burrow Cottage makes a stylish, eco-friendly, holiday home surrounded by nature where you can treat yourselves to a spa-like retreat.
French doors lead to a private deck and tranquil gardens with wildlife ponds, free-range chickens, ancient oak trees and views of Sourton Tor and Yes Tor; Dartmoor’s wild northern tors.
We aim to make your stay as relaxing and peaceful as possible, and fun! Bathe in the wood-fired hot tub on the deck; detox in our new sauna; cook on a campfire around the firepit or bake pizzas in the pizza oven as the sun sets on Yes Tor; laze in the hammock under the beautiful willows or play table tennis and darts in the adjacent barn.
The cottage sleeps up to five. It has a master king size bedroom and upstairs a loft bedroom with three single beds and a day bed that converts to a king size. The open plan living room contains two sofas and an arm chair. A cot and highchair are available if required.
The kitchen has a vaulted ceiling and slate worktops, the contemporary bathroom has a slate floor and large bath with a deluge shower above.
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and electric vehicle charging is available, pay as you go, next to the cottage. We try and use only eco-friendly products and our ground source heat pump provides constant hot water and underfloor heating that keeps the temperature just right in Summer and super-cosy in Winter. We also have a woodburner, as you just can’t beat a real fire.
There are great walks directly from the cottage taking in streams, forests and valleys, many with beautiful far-reaching views of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor.
Inside there is a flatscreen TV, Freeview, Superfast Wifi, toys, books and binoculars.
We should mention, there is no smoking in the cottage. On arrival, you will find organic milk from our local dairy (10 cows all known by name) and our own fresh eggs when the hens are laying. You will find a basket of logs and more can be can bought from us for the hot tub and the woodburner. Please feel free to ask if there is anything else you need.
